Tanno Pippi of Jolly Goods

Jolly Goods are Berlin based duo Tanno Pippi and Angy Lord. Formed in 2003, their music is inspired by Punk, Folk, Shoegaze, Riot Grrrl, Garage, Pop and Noise. Today Tanno answers my questions.

What are your favourite qualities in a song?
Good lyrics, a message.
Where do you look for inspiration?
I anatomize tears.
Where are you happiest?
In the sun.
As a performer, what makes a show special or memorable?
When the performer loses its ego, its sense of self, becomes one with the sounds floating around.
As an audience member, what makes a show special or memorable?
Simply good music.
What is your idea of success?
Creating good works of art is success. Popularity is not.
What is something you would like to learn more about?
Music theory.
What was your biggest musical failure?
When my voice broke on stage.
What was your biggest musical success?
Producing and recording our upcoming album Slowlife.
Who do you look up to?
Patti Smith, Kate Bush, PJ Harvey, Björk.
What was the first song you have ever written like?
Freaky and angry.
Who deserves a plug or shoutout?
Mary Ocher Because her music is unique, experimental, brave and exciting.
